Speaker Profile: Elmarie Myburgh
The implementation of laws against cyber-crimes forces online platforms to report information on abuse to the authorities. This information is then forwarded by the FBI to the respective countries where the crimes originated from. The South African authorities have recently been involved with several cases where children, under the age of 16 years, were using social platforms for radicalization and violent incitement.
In this presentation, two of these cases will be analyzed in detail, to determine where they are on the pathway to violence, and their potential risk to execute violence against their intended targets or themselves.
