David Cillie

I started off my career in the security sector by qualifying 25 years ago as a Close Protection Officer which allowed me to travel the world protecting high net worth individuals and their families, I then embarked on a new adventure by settling down in South Africa to become a husband and father but continued to work in the Executive Protection arena primarily with the banking sector.

With mentorship and hard work I developed my responsibilities to lead a Team of security professionals in a full division at Absa dealing with Employee Travel Security, Journey Management and Executive Protection and later to encompass Threat Assessment and Mitigation and Kidnap for Ransom capabilities. I was delighted to join like-minded individuals when I joined AfATAP as a member at its inception, and have been a regular presenter and attendee at the annual AfATAP conferences.

Currently I’m a proud father of two teenage boys and a beautiful wife with far too many pets at our home east of Johannesburg.
