Presenter: Prof Danny Myburgh (South Africa) Managing Director of Cyanre – The Digital Forensic Lab
Who is the dark force behind Cyber Threats? We have global syndicates operating from East and West Africa, from the Eastern Bloc countries. We have groups such as the Black Axes, who is involved in anything from drug trafficking, human trafficking to Catfishing, Sextortion and Ransomware. We have Ransomware and Threat Actors such as GandCrab, REvil, Sodin, Ryuk,Wizard Spider, DarkSide, Ragnar Locker and then we have BOB.
BOB is you ever so helpful co-worker that helped you that once when your printer didn’t wanted to work, or when you needed a new printer cartridge, he brough it over, or do you remember that time when you dripped mustard on your shirt at the company picnic and he handed you a napkin – OR do you remember that time when BOB was the guy that read all the CEO’s emails, or when BOB spied on the ladies via their webcams, or when BOB plated a Logic Bomb which formatted all the servers when he got fired….
During this presentation we will give an overview of the Cyber threats facing businesses in South Africa and we will explore the instances when an employee or disgruntled employee goes rouge and is the threat in Cyberthreat.
