Presenter: Dr Ngao Motsei: South Africa: International Association of Workplace Bullying and Harassment

Six to seven years ago, bullying was not openly spoken about in the South African workplace. In 2022, things are a little different in that there is a willingness to name the abrasive, negative ways people are being treated at work as Bullying. What has not changed is the unwillingness to speak out against the toxic behaviour, or to do anything about it in the few organisations and instances where the bullying is reported.  Bullying is still a silent epidemic in the South African workplace, and it still catches management and leaders by surprise when bullying and intimidation are reported to be prevalent in their workplaces. This is because there is still no understanding of what bullying is, and what it is not, and/or how it differs from other negative acts at work such as harassment, intimidation. The talk will shed light on the above, and more.

Dr. Ngao Motsei is a workplace bullying practitioner, scholar, coach and thought leader.
